Christmas Fabric Postcards

Sales are super slow for me and many of my Etsy friends, so I think these will be the last of the Christmas items for me, unless I get some brilliant idea that I just have to make. If sales continue the way they have been, I think I will be having a big after Christmas sale. Let's hope not.

The Perfect Gift

I think I have created the perfect gift to sell in the shop. To the Christmas mug I have added a matching coiled fabric coaster, 4 chocolate covered, peppermint sprinkled, individually wrapped spoons. I have used semi sweet chocolate to make these spoons as that is my favorite. I have also included a candy cane and over sized gift tag. If these are a big seller, I just might make them for all occasions.

Hot Pad

I guess that's what you would call it. But I made it with a loosely woven fabric which has several metallic threads running through it. I used a red metallic thread to stitch it together, so I guess putting anything hot on it is a bad idea. Can't call it a doily, so what do I call it?

Gift Exchange

I really don't know what possessed me to sign up for a gift exchange but I did. It's the 2009 Hollywood Craft Mafia Handmade gift exchange and all gifts must be handmade. I purchased this piece of fabric at the new and improved Joanns in Pompano Beach.

I made a small candy dish and set of 4 coasters. I sure hope my secret exchange partner likes them.

Etsy Treasury

Although it's a bit late to be selling Tom Turkey, but he made it into another Treasury.

This treasury can be found here, but won't be there for long.

Selveges

I've been saving up selvages thinking I would make one of the many fabulous projects that have cropped up all over the net. But that's just not going to happen, so I am giving my readers the first opportunity to purchase this bag of selvages. I'm only asking $3 and $2 for shipping. If you are interested, please email me directly.

Quilts for Kids, Inc

I got another quilt kit from Quilts for Kids. The piecing part of the process is pretty quick and easy for me. All the parts are pre cut, so it goes together in a hurry. But as I've said before, my machine quilting is the pits.
I am rather excited this time though because .....................................

...................well, check it out, there are no puckers on the back. I know, I know, the lines are a bit crooked but NO puckers! It was suggested the last time that I use more pins in the basting. But before I put in the pins, I sprayed the heck out of the thing with basing spray and then put in the pins. I used more than I usually do, but not as many as all the instructions say I should.

My only problem now is that there wasn't enough excess backing to make separate binding. I think I'll try the wrap the back around to the front method. Please all cross your fingers as I have never attempted this before.

Christmas Fabric Postcards

Here's some new Christmas postcards for the shop. Do you remember that green fabric that kept running. It makes a nice postcard. I think I might add some hot fix jewels to them. You can never have too much sparkly stuff on anything Christmas.

Couldn't Be Easier

So easy, in fact, that you don't even need instructions. I just sewed some strips together, appliqued some basic designs and machine quilted in the ditch.

I tried to use Judy L's method of machine binding but it still came out like crap, so I used my friend Judy G's method. Instead of a straight stitch I used a decorative stitch that's sure to catch the flap in the back.

I still intend to put some buttons on there too, but this runner is otherwise done. I may make another with the ends coming to a point rather than square, but we will see. Oh and if you are wondering why I put the stars only on one side, it's because this runner is going on a small end table. The end with the stars will hang over the edge and that is about all you will see.

Feel free to copy this idea and make it your own. How about red and white with hearts for Valentines, or green and white with shamrocks for St Pat's. You can make it with pastel colors and eggs for Easter, or bright colors with candles for a birthday. Heck, you can get carried away with the whole idea and make them for most any occasion using scraps and leftovers. Be sure to let me know if you make one, I would love to see it. i bet everyone would like to see it, so I'll post a link to your site if you like.

This and That

I did something today that I really don't like doing, I went to the mall. In particular, the Broward Mall because there is a Disney store there. It was 11 AM and I was very surprised to see very few people. I was also surprised to see very little in the way of decorations. I know it's early, but really, can you believe this..........

.......pretty sterile looking if you ask me. In addition to the lack of customers and decorations, there were no big sales either. The Disney store didn't have what I was looking for and neither did JC Penney.

On a better note, I did finish my table runner....yeah for me. It's too dark here to take a picture now, so come on back tomorrow.

This one's for Me

I liked the way the stars and hearts came out on the door hanger. It's not like I don't have a ton of other stuff I should be doing (or finishing) but I decided to make a table runner using the stars and hearts motif. Here is what I've got so far.

It still needs to be quilted, bound and embellished but I like it so far. The big question is, will I finish it or will I get bored.

I Finished Something

Yup, that is something to cheer about. I managed to get 6 blocks done for the November Block Lotto. I get to cross something off my list, imagine that.

It's So Frustrating

I have been complaining about my lack of ambition when it comes to any type of crafting lately. It's not getting any better. My door hanger came out cute, but that was the third try. The Itty Bittys came out cute but the kitty doesn't have enough stuffing and is very limp.

I thought it might be a good idea to join in on the Block Lotto because it has been awhile since I participated. This months block is a simple one, Spools. I printed out the instructions just to have a guide to go by and made the block accordingly. It looks good, doesn't it? Not! The colors are backwards. I can take it apart and reuse some of the pieces or start from scratch. Well, maybe tomorrow.

Itty Bitty

Say hello to Itty Bitty Kitty and Itty Bitty Puppy. I asked permission from Cotton Jinny last July to make these adorable little pets and she has at last replied. Her answer is Yes, and I couldn't be happier. Aren't they just the cutest?

Door Hanger

Something new for the shop. I made one of these a few years ago for myself and always thought it was the cutest thing. So, here is the first one for sale, all it needs are the jingle bells attached to the bottom. Hmmmm, I'm thinking ahead to Valentines Day, St Pat's, Easter and on and on and on.

I still don't have any ambition to do much of anything. I have several projects that I can start or finish, but I just don't feel like it. I would much rather watch my new fish swim around. Sad isn't it?

It's that time of year again where we get some birds other than bluejays and doves. Every year there is a male and female cardinal that live in the tree next to my house. I don't know if it's the same ones or not, but it's always a pair. Here is the male at the feeder while the female was on the ground below.
