String Quilt

I completed another sting quilt top and donated it at Glenda's Bee. It will be completed and donated locally but I'm not sure yet where it will go.

Most of the sting quilts that I make seem to come out rather dark. I deliberately searched for lighter, floral fabrics to make a quilt that might be more feminine.
I have also completed a new set of 6 Just Ducky blocks. This is a new one for more and I think they are really cute.

New In the Shop

These Wrap it Up blocks seem to be pretty popular, so I made some more. You can find them in my shop.

Preemie Quilts

My friend Glenda has a bee on the last Saturday of every month and that is tomorrow. I had planned to make some preemie quilts, saving the hand stitching of the binding for the bee. I'm really not crazy about schlepping my featherweight and all the junk that goes with machine sewing, so this would be an ideal project. But before that, I needed to make some additional blocks to sell in the shop.
I made this set of 6 'All Wrapped Up' blocks, and they sold in less than 24 hours.

So, I made another set of 6 Gekko blocks for the shop.

Not only did these sell, but I had an order for 3 additional sets. I have been tracing, cutting, fusing and stitching like a woman possessed.
I did manage to get 2 preemie quilts done to the point of only needing to hand stitch the binding down.
Isn't it amazing how much you can get done when you stay away from the computer?

Two new cards to add to collection. The first one is from Anna. She is 24 and comes from Saratov Russia. Her English is not that good as she says she likes dancing and making fire show. I don't know what she means. She also says that the picture on the postcard is not of her hometown but of a city (Voronech) which she has visited and found to be beautiful.

The second card is from Nancy, she is from Albi in the South of France. She says it is a medieval little town. I am amazed that there are still places like this in the world. Here in South Florida, it gets torn down if it's over 50 years old.

Maple Leaf

A few months ago I was looking for a Maple Leaf pattern that I remember making awhile back. I searched everywhere on the net and asked everyone I knew, but could not find the pattern I had in my mind.
I happened to be in my storage unit today, looking for a book. I have several boxes with quilting books and magazines I really need to go through and clear out. Look what I found.............

.......... just what I was looking for. Can you read the date? It says Sept-Oct '93.

Two new postcards to brighten my day. The first one is from Sandy, an obstetrics nurse from Pittsburgh PA. She chose this card because she says it reminds her of a quilt and she read that I like quilting. What she doesn't know is that I love daisys.

The second card is from Rena, a 21 year old from Muenster Germany. On her card she write that there are twice as many bikes in Muenster that inhabitants, which is why they call it the bike-city.

New in the Shop

With all the family issues that are currently going on, it is really hard for me to stay focused, so I have been trying to make quilt blocks for sale. For me, it's a good idea. There are many quilts out there that I would love to make, but you know I get distracted in a hurry. Making a handful of blocks, then listing them for sale in my shop, satisfies the desire without the weeks of work. Here is my current set of appliqued blocks.

So much for Honesty....

I've had this pair of earrings for years. They were given to me as a gift and I have always hated them. I think they are stupid looking and are just not my style. I decided to attempt to sell them on EBay but they removed my listing. I put in my listing that I had no idea if they were the real deal or not and that seems to be a big EBay no no.

New in the Shop

I am trying really hard to keep busy and sewing. I keep getting sidelined by family issues and health problems. It has take me three days to complete these 4 blocks but I like the way they turned out. They measure 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches but can be cut down as small as 9 1/2 inches square.

I think they turned out nice. If they don't sell, I just might keep them and make a table runner.
They can be found in my Etsy shop here.
