Some useless trivia

Here's what Cinderella's castle in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World Orlando looks like. You can't see it in this photo but there is a guide wire that runs from atop that tall spire, down to....well I'm not sure where. At the beginning of the fireworks show, a real live women, dressed as Tinkerbell, with a lot of LED lights on her wings, flies down that wire. It is something to see.

Here is what it looks like at night. It does change colors, and has seasonal colors as well.

The Disney imagineers used several different European castles as there inspiration, but the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria was most influential.

Disney imagination is one of my favorite things to learn about! I mean, as a kid, Disney is awesome, but as an adult it's so much more so! For instance, when they were building the castle they found out that if it was higher than 200 ft they'd have to put a blinking light for airplanes. So they redesigned their whole plan- that castle is only 190 feet tall. They use all kinds of perspective tricks to make it look taller.

FYI ~ Tinkerbell (who most times is actually a boy due to weight v strength issues) lands behind space mountain and is stopped by two employees holding up a matress which he/she slams into! Sorry if I spoiled anything but I am a huge tinkerbell fan and when I found this out ~ I was just floored! Poor Tink
