2 Seasons

I have heard many times over the years, that people wouldn't want to live in Florida because we have no change of season. They couldn't be more wrong, we have two seasons, summer and winter.
I have a large backyard, well large for downtown Ft Lauderdale. There is always a tangled mess of vines which are hard to control. Last summer, the vines suffocated another tree, this one in my neighbors yard. The dead tree came down on top of my fence. We cut up what we could we the chain saw, but the job was too big for us.

It was a pretty hot day when this was taken, it was summer.
In December the weather turned cold and has been cold for most of the time ever since. We usually get a few days of very cold, but this winter we have gotten many, many days were it has been in the 40's. The good news about such a prolonged period of cold is that it has killed lots of the suffocating vines.

Too bad the vines didn't kill that umbrella tree back there, I dislike those trees.

That looks like a lot of work Barbara! I remember when I lived in temperate San Diego for a couple years...it was hard keeping the growth in check! It looks as though your vines could swallow you up!

Even though your winters aren't like ours I know how they can be for someone who lives there. My sister lives in Florida and she'' tell me how she's freezing to death. I just laugh because the temps she's freezing in I would be thrilled with.

LOL! My son's MIL is visiting him and his wife in Pensacola. She is from Belize. She is FREEZING. Not at all what she expected.....nor my kids either. This was a very unusual and cold winter......

40= cold, hahahaha! We were at 48 today and everyone was outside playing and working. We think that's warm. Nice try, but you can't entice me to Florida in the summer :-)
