A New Start

I have been in love with this quilt for ages, I don't know if it's the pattern or the colors, it's very busy. I finally got around to emailing Piece O Cake designs to ask them how I could get the pattern. I was told to purchase the book Applique Outside the Lines. It is pretty expensive to purchase from them directly, so I ordered a used copy from Amazon. I was really disappointed when the book arrived as the pattern was not in that book. I emailed Piece O Cake back again and they said they had made a mistake, the pattern was actually in the book Quilts with a Spin. So back to Amazon I went, purchasing another used book. All in all, it took over 3 weeks to get the one single pattern I wanted.
I've got a bug to enter another contest. Broward Quilt Expo is a year away, and that's just about how long it will take me to make this quilt (assuming I don't get bored somewhere in the middle).
I ordered a bunch of fat quarters yesterday and today I went through my entire stash (including the strings scraps box), looking for anything with dots, spots or circles.
So far the colors are not too bad but I still have more fabrics and a lot more cutting to do.

It may be busy but I love it. I think it's because of all those flowers around the edge. It looks like a huge project though.

That's a beautiful quilt pattern and your fabrics will look great! I can't wait to see progress pictures!

Head gonna 'splode. Gees, that's a lot of piecing! I've done some of their hand-applique and although they turn out lovely, it is a LOT of work.

Keep us posted on the progress!

I would have been MAD if I'd been given the wrong info about which book the pattern was in. Bet you're glad you didn't pay full price for the books!
LOVE your spotty/dotty fabric collection, I have a bit of a weakness for them myself so I look forward to seeing this progress :)

A year? I'd be working on it for a lifetime! But I like it. You seem to like bold colors, and I do too.

Oh...what a disappointment! Well, I hope you got the first book cheap and that you can still use it!

You are right...that quilt is gorgeous! Lots of piecework...I hope you are ready for that! Be sure to have a bottle of Exedrin by your sewing table!
