Copy Write Question

I had an idea to make postcards (for my etsy shop) of college/university logos. The designs are easy enough to find on the net. But someone said "you can't do that, they are copy writed". I'm not so sure about that. You can go to Joann's or Walmart and find logo fabric so why can't you use it in a craft to sell?

Does anyone out there know for sure?

They are correct. You can buy logo fabric because the fabric mfg has paid a royalty to use it. There are some rules about selling product made from logo fabric too but I don't know exactly what they are. Hopefully someone else will now.

Vicki W is right! Those fabrics are called "licensed" fabrics. You better believe these schools are making big bucks licensing out their logos and they probably would not appreciate anyone else doing the same!

Nice facebook picture!

If you make something from a "licensed" fabric ~ it cannot be sold HOWEVER ~ If "the customer" buys the fabric (or you buy it for them) and they pay you to make something out of it, that's legal.
