Around the Block

Most of the time I zip through my neighborhood. But for the last week I have taken notice of the good, bad and sometimes strange differences as I ride around on my bike. This time I focused on mailboxes, searching for something out of the ordinary.

There seems to be a lot of these by the curb type. I really don't understand why anyone would opt for this type as it is not required by the post office. You can't get your mail in the rain or while you're still in your jammies.

There are white ones.........................................
and black ones, though few are level, straight or plumb.

The more expensive houses have built in mailboxes.

There are some that look like little houses.

There are a handful of mailboxes with a little color and personality..........

...and a handful of houses with mail slots. Hmmmm, check out the color of the red door, I think I see a topic for next week.

But the most interesting was this patriotic manatee mounted on an anchor. Isn't he cute?

I love this stainless one.

Are you wondering about my mailbox? It is made of copper and I have been waiting over 5 years for it to turn green, I wonder how much longer I'm going to have to wait.
